Quantifiers


As you learn, quantifiers are used to express quantity and there are specific rules. In this activity you are going to read some sentences, and then, according to the context, choose and write a specific quantifier to complete the gap.   

Complete the following sentences using the words in the box. You have two attempts to answer every item. You can know your score at the end of the exercise.

Correct! Cars is a plural, so you need “FEW”.Incorrect! Remember when a plural you must use is “few”.

Eating out here is great because there are restaurants.

Very Well! you use plenty of with plurals.Incorrect! Restaurants is a plural so you need “plenty of”.

Do we have time before leaving? Because I haven’t finished getting ready.

Correct! Use much with uncountable nouns – time.Incorrect! When you have uncountable nouns – time you have to use much.

Louise complained about having too students in her classroom. They are almost fifty!

Well! Use many with plural countable nouns.Incorrect! When you have plural countable nouns you must use many.

There are shops at the University. It’s good enough.

Correct! Use “a few” to mean – enough and with a plural noun.Incorrect! Shops is a plural, you must use “a few” to mean – enough and with a plural noun.
